The New Expansion Pass for Nintendo Switch Online is for those who have never played the library of N64, and Genesis Games. At the same time, the pass is for those who also want to buy the Animal Crossing DLC as it adds value to the already slightly high $79.99 Family Membership plan. If you want all of that for one person, you will pay $49.99. So you might as well just get a few friends or like-minded family members to go in with you (if they again care as much about ALL the add-ons the Expansion Pass gives).
The announcement of the Nintendo online Expansion pass flustered and delighted fans of the Japanese gaming company Nintendo. While watching the presentation of its addition to the online membership plan myself the question came to mind, "who is this for exactly?" Those I know who were on board the moment it was announced seemed to be extreme gaming or Nintendo junkies, while those who didn't grow up with an N64 were left bewildered. And then there was me, also an extreme Nintendo fan. But looking at the price increase and the titles I had played many times over beside a few, I didn't feel inclined to actually pay the fee and get these classic N64 and Genesis games. And though the new Animal Crossing DLC was a nice addition, I felt inclined to just buy that separately when I want it in the indefinite future. In short, Nintendo's package for this service focuses on an obscure small demographic, and though many Nintendo fans will buy it other fans like me will be sitting on the sidelines not desiring in the least to partake in the offering. I would actually like to buy some individual games like Sin and Punishment, but it seems I am blocked from even doing that without paying the $49.99 fee a year.
Are you or have you bought into the expansion pass? If so or not, why did you make that decision you did? Let me know in the comments below.
